The short answer is No... You would only need planning permission if you were to have a full loft conversion. For a storage space you do not. The only time you would need permission is if you rent the property and you want to have the work done. You would need authorisation from your landlord.
No we don’t fit full loft conversions, we do what we call mini loft conversions. This is classed as a non – habitable room. (Which does not require planning permission) This could be used as a Hobby room/ Office space/ kids play room/ adult cave.
Yes you can. As we use a floor raise system that complies with building regulations, by raising the floor space above the 270mm insulation levels. This is the only way to board a new build property in order to not invalidate the NHBC warranty what the house builder provides.
No, you most definitely don’t, we have the appropriate ladders. Although one thing we never say no to is a hot coffee.
Yes, they will indeed! As we raise the boarding above the 270mm insulation levels this enables the lofts airflow to ‘breathe’ Therefore the insulation will work to its optimal capacity.
No, we would never board straight onto the ceiling joists. This would more than halve the efficiency levels of the insulation and put excessive strain on your ceiling, causing the ceiling to sag and crack.
