"We are a family run business, with 15 years of experience specialising in loft boarding, creating safe and accessible storage spaces"

A safe usable space is a no brainer for everyone, adding the benefits of that extra storage space that everyone could do with more of... whether it be a place to store the family's suitcases until that next lovely trip away or hiding the Christmas tree and Santa's presents (shhh) and the general de clutter of the household things you just can't bring yourself to part with. Whilst increasing the thermal efficiency of the property (saving you money on Energy Bills) and adding value to your house.

Way back when, the done thing was to lay boards directly on to the properties ceiling joist. This is known and proven now to be completely the wrong way to do it. Times change and so do methods. Here at LOFT LOGIK we are specialists in creating the strongest most thermal efficient boarding spaces, done the correct and compliant way.

Whilst no two lofts are the same, there are two types of lofts... a purlin style roof and a truss style roof. Both styles can be boarded, so rest assured we have all the solutions for you.

Truss Style Roof

The way in which you board a truss roof is key. New builds need to have a floor raise system which conforms to building regulations in order to not invalidate the NHBC guarantee which house builders provide. At LOFT LOGIK we use BBA approved product which comprises of fitting a Plastic leg to the ceiling with a rail running on top. This would be running opposite to the way in which the ceiling truss runs creating extra strength by proportionately spanning the weight across the full floor/ceiling span, to finish off with 18mm chipboard Conti/Kronospan loft panels screwed down into the rail with staggered joints, increasing more strength again.

Purlin Style Roof

The way in which you board an older style property is also key. Just like a new build the flooring itself needs to be raised above the industry standard insulation levels. Here at LOFT LOGIK we create a timber-built sub frame. This is the only way in which these properties should be boarded. Taking the strain off the existing ceiling. The weight is distributed from the central wall of the house and the purlins. Taking the weight load above away from the lathe and plaster ceiling. Creating an extremely strong space in which to store or use for a mini loft conversion. (non-habitable room). The loft boards would then be screwed to the timbers with staggered joints to add even more strength your space.

Maximise Your Home's Storage Space with Loft Boarding

Loft boarding is one of the most effective ways to unlock extra storage space in your home. If your loft is already insulated, storing items directly on top can compress the insulation and reduce its performance, that’s where raised boarding comes in.

We use the LoftZone StoreFloor system, a raised loft platform designed to preserve and even improve the performance of your loft insulation. This clever system avoids compressing the insulation and helps reduce the risk of damp or condensation. It also has the potential to boost your home's value and increase usable floor space in your loft by up to 50%.

LoftZone StoreFloor is the only raised loft floor system approved by the BBA (British Board of Agrément), a respected authority in UK construction. It’s also fully compatible with new-build properties and won’t affect your NHBC warranty.

Built to last, this system has been rigorously tested under extreme temperatures and can support weights of over 500kg per square metre, without compromising its integrity. In fact, its unique lattice structure can even help reinforce the joists it's fixed to. That said, we always advise responsible loading to protect your home’s structure.

You can choose to board as much or as little of your loft as needed. Our loft boarding service includes all materials, using durable 18mm chipboard, and we custom-fit around any loft obstructions. Professionally installed and tailored to your needs, it’s the smartest way to make the most of your loft space.
